I Bit The Bullet
Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. As many, if not all of you know, this crappy disease snared me last October. Since then it's been quite a ride from diagnosis, to lumpectomy, through treatment. But the end is now in sight and finally time to start planning the rest of my life!
With that in mind, I’ve committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fund-raising (and hopefully losing the weight I've put on through this ordeal). But breast cancer is a big disease, ah let's face it, it's a big pain in the ... and unfortunately one that still affects far too many people, and enough is enough already. It's time we kicked this sucker to the curb and helped those less fortunate than me without the emotional, physical and financial support I've been lucky enough to have.
I won't be doing this alone either. I have two good friends, Alison and Stephanie, that will be joining me (and if any of you want to come along, let me know).
So, with that in mind, it's time to throw even more money at this epidemic. The money I raise will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those that most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. I’ll be just one of thousands of people that will walk up to a marathon and a half over a weekend (Hey Chris, I'm going to do the "Goofy Challenge" before you!), raising awareness of the cause and educating even more people.
I can’t do it without your help. Though I’m required to raise at least $1,800 in donation, I plan to raise much more!
