Moto Crew!!
Thanks for visiting my Avon Walk page. This is the fourth or fifth year that I've volunteered as part of the crew for the Avon Walk - after a while they start running together. I have been and again this year am part of the Motorcycle Route Safety crew. My role is to help make sure that the walkers make it through the route safely and have fun. I play cheerleader, nurse, coach and entertainer for the walkers - yes it's a perfectly good reason to make a fool of myself in order to help keep the walkers motivated. :)
I am fortunate in that no one in my immediate family has been affected by breast cancer but I have friends who have been affected. I have seen the destructive powers that it has on friends and families of those affected. There will also be a number of women and men who are either survivors, have just finished chemo or are currently going through chemo on the walk. It really puts things into perspective.
It's not required of me to raise money as a crew member - but I try to raise what I can. So any help that you can provide would be so appreciated.
Getting ready!!
I'm preparing for the event by making sure that my bike is in tip top shape and gathering my 'flair'. Yes I will be the lone sport bike rider! I should probably train to walk since I usually end up walking about 10 miles myself over the weekend. While you're here, you might want to spend some time on the site to find out more information on why this event is so important, and the organizations and people that will be helped by the money we all raise.
Thanks again for your support!
