I am the Mom and am a 2 time survivor of Breast Cancer, 20 years apart. Most important to me is the way my daughter, Danielle, has taken on a mission in honor of my survival. At 29 yrs. of age she was diagnosed with Colon Cancer herself.

My incredible journey
Thank you for the tremendous support and encouragement throughout this awesome week-end. Please accept this poem to summarize my experience.

I am REAL
I am TRUE. I am ALIVE. and right now i am taking a minute to remember that and to walk for my mommie,sister and all those beautiful courageous women who have Beaten Breast cancer and the amazing AVON TEAM. ONE GOAL= ONE TEAM. I LOVE U" Farrah."

In honor of my mom, my Aunt, both survivors. My mother has been an inspiration to me in so many ways, but to see her fight and overcome her cancer, showed me just how exceptional of a person she is and how blessed I am to have her in my life.

When I was asked to walk I really had to think about all of the training and such. But I just want to say, I walked for a dear friend I lost to breast cancer and for all those who could not walk and those who are survivors.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 09 at 27 years old . . .I am walking to to honor everyone who has to go at this crazy journey . . .good attitude and support is one of the biggest treatments!!!! Early detection is the best, so do self exams!

I was diagnosed in September with Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer. Early detection, good treatment and faith got me through. Cancer taught me that living is a verb. I want to grab every minute and never take a day for granted. I'm walking with my daughter, my son and my friend to seize the day and honor all the brave women who continue to fight!

Why I walk...
A little over eight years ago, my friend, Cara, died of breast cancer. Hearing of her death seized my heart and a little piece was broken off.

Cancer is hard, walking isn't....Throughout my walk I will remeber all those who have lost the fight, all who are fighting the battle and my beloved grandfather who lost the battle to colon cancer on October 23, 2005.

I was diagnosed in 2005 with breast cancer, and had no family history. There was no lump. Luckily for me, it was found by a routine mammogram, and was still in the early stages.

No blister will stop me, nor rain, wind or heat. She would walk to the ends of the earth for me, so I return the favor and walk for her. I know she can see me from heaven. Lisa is my angel. I lost her in July 2004 at age 41.. Mom is my biggest supporter and fan. Love tons.

My Breast Cancer Year
When I was 47, I found a large lump on 8/1/07. I immediately had a double mastectomy. Then 15 rounds of chemo and 6 weeks of radiation. I still have to finish my once a week chemo until January '09. After that's done I can finish my breast reconstruction.

I spent almost six years in the miliatry fighting for freedom and defending those who needed me. I now continue fighting for those who need me, just in a different way.

I was diagnosed with stage one Breast Cancer in 2003, I lived alone in Nevada at the time and my family was 4 hours away. I was scared and I didn't know how I was going to tell my two grown children or the rest of my family and friends.

I got a stress fracture in my foot and couldn't finish the walk. I was devastated that I couldn't make it to the finish line so I wrote this because I saw so many others that had a hard time with that while I was in the medical tent.

My Mom was diagnosed this year with breast cancer. Because of early detection, she is going to be just fine. But I also walked for all women, so early detection is possible.

26.2 miles...and....the other two walked 39.3...and...the other team member, the 4th, had a double mastectomy 3 weeks before the walk so she drove around and helped and supported us with a good friend. I felt like I was carrying her the whole time.
